The Fallout
Jul. 13th, 2017 12:59 pmOne night can shake the foundations of a life. Katya will never forget the unearthly screams when Hannah discovered her husband's body. In the outpouring of grief she heard the woman tell her daughter Julie that this was all her fault. It made her uneasy in a way that she couldn't explain. Especially, when there was little sign of the girl for the next while.
It made her wish that her bird form was just a little less inconspicuous so that she could fly past her neighbour's window and perch there. One night when she was considering taking the risk, she went to her own window and.....she was sure she sleeping as she twitched her curtains and saw Casper, hovering there, wings glowing. It made no sense. She rubbed her eyes and looked again. The image hadn't vanished.
She drew back. Awed.
When she eventually fell asleep that night, those wings feature in her dreams.
The flying trip is delayed by a few days due to the events going on but on Sunday, she is waiting for Casper, sitting in the tree.
